Poptart functionality, or it's no dice.
It's not really a good concept since glass is an insulator, and takes forever to heat up and cool down. So not only would you have to wait a long time for your toast to become toast, you then have to wait a long time before that thing is cool enough not to burn the crap out of you should you accidentally touch it. Not to mention the energy use would be extremely inefficient, especially compared to a normal toaster.
I once had a roommate who said that his dream in life was to make a see-through toaster. I told him it was a terrible idea because nobody wants to watch their bread gets toasted. Also, we're pretty much done with the toaster. I feel like we've pretty much designed it as good as it should be. Let's focus on alternate fuel sources before we get too crazy with our toast.
